* Why Occupy? The Video You've Got to See
From: United Steelworkers <[log in to unmask]>

Sisters and Brothers,

The Occupy Wall Street movement continues to gain momentum
as thousands of Americans from across the country take to
the streets to stand up against corporate greed and to fight
for an economy that works for everyone.

Many are asking, what is this movement really about and why
is it so important? The beauty of it is that the answer
depends on who you are, really. But despite the organic
nature and diversity of this grassroots effort, there is a
common thread: people are angry that most of us are
suffering because of the greed and unchecked power of a very
few.

We're proud of all the Steelworkers who have joined this
movement. Keep sending us your photos at [log in to unmask] and
posting your reports on our Facebook page and Twitter feed
with the hashtag #OccupyWallSt.

And for one of the best explanations we've seen yet, check
out this amazing video featuring Massachusetts U.S. Senate
candidate Elizabeth Warren and produced by D.C. Douglas.

Let's keep standing up and fighting back until we win back
our economy and our future!?

* Re: The Euro Zone Crisis - Worse than it Appears

Just a few words in response to Carl's insightful
presentation on the Euro Zone crisis.

The comments of the German Bild (think New York Post on an
overdose of steroids and viagra) imply that the financial
practices in the Euro Zone were not as risky and dangerously
leveraged as those in the U.S. Such is not the case.

When the xenophobic Austrian Foreign Minister remarks that
Euro Zone fundamentals are superior to those of the U.S. is
she whistling in the dark or showing a willingness to write
off Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and enough of
the others to make her remark make any sense at all?

Obama's remark that the way the crisis is being handled is
"scaring the world" seems to refer directly to this: the
drive of the economically stronger EU nations to continue to
enforce austerity - risking a collapse of the EU - in the
vain and greedy hope of emerging even more dominant.

* How Americans Can Travel to Cuba:

A CBS Early Show Report

http://www.petergreenberg.com/2011/10/11/how-americans-can-travel-to-cuba-a-cbs-early-show-report/

For years Cuba has been a forbidden country for Americans,
only assessable to travelers willing to risk losing their
passport in the process. But this year, thanks to changes in
policy implemented by the Obama Administration, the first
group of Americans were able to travel legally to the
country.

On the CBS Early Show, Peter reports on the new travel
opportunities available to this island nation and the
restrictions that still exist.

Watch the video below:

and for US-Cuban relations in our corresponding news story,
