Budrus -- Movie

Budrus is an award-winning feature documentary film
about a Palestinian community organizer, Ayed Morrar,
who unites local Fatah and Hamas members along with
Israeli supporters in an unarmed movement to save his
village of Budrus from destruction by Israel’s
Separation Barrier. Success eludes them until his 15-
year-old daughter, Iltezam, launches a women’s
contingent that quickly moves to the front lines.
Struggling side by side, father and daughter unleash an
inspiring, yet little-known, movement in the Occupied
Palestinian Territories that is still gaining ground
today. In an action-filled documentary chronicling this
movement from its infancy, Budrus shines a light on
people who choose nonviolence to confront a threat. The
movie is directed by award-winning filmmaker Julia Bacha
(co-writer and editor of Control Room and co-director
Encounter Point), and produced by Bacha, Palestinian
journalist Rula Salameh, and filmmaker and human rights
advocate Ronit Avni (formerly of WITNESS, Director of
Encounter Point).

Budrus is now available to buy on DVD (official site
http://www.justvision.org/budrus) or to rent on Netflix.

History Detectives: A Father's Forgotten Tribute in a
Spanish Civil War Eulogy

Among the late Sol Fellman's mementos of the Spanish
Civil War is a four-page eulogy titled, "A Negro Hero
Dies" written for a man named Douglas Roach. Sol fought
in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade with his brother Harry,
but they were separated in Spain and Harry went missing.
Who was Douglas Roach and what happened to Sol's brother
Harry? Tukufu Zuberi unravels this tale of brotherly
love.

Afghanistan. Bob Dylan called Vietnam the best protest
song he ever heard. Jimmy Cliff's many hits include Wild
World, You Can Get It If You Really Want It, I Can See
Clearly Now, Wonderful World Beutiful People. He was

George Takei's Solution to the 'Don't Say Gay' Bill

A bill now pending in Tennessee would prohibit teachers
in that state from discussing homosexuality in the
classroom. The so-called "don't say gay" law is premised
on the misguided belief that, by not talking about gay
people, they can simply make us disappear.

George is here to tell Tennessee, and all the LGBT youth
and teachers who would be affected by this law, that he
is here for you. In fact, he is lending his name to the
cause. Any time you need to say the word "gay," you can
simply say "Takei." Uploaded by allegiancebway

Gun Control Group Airs Ad Highlighting Al Qaeda Threat

Earlier this month, an al Qaeda spokesman in a YouTube
video urged the terror group's supporters to exploit lax
gun loopholes in the U.S. to purchase weapons and carry
out attacks on Americans. Today, Mayors Against Illegal
Guns released an ad highlighting the video, and asking
Americans to call their representatives in Congress and
"tell them to close the loopholes that let terrorists
and criminals buy guns." Watch the ad:
