A Message to Labor Portside Readers on Portside's 10th
Anniversary

OK, we had to check the calendar twice ourselves.  October
28, 2010 will mark the 10th anniversary of Portside.  For
the moderators these 10 years have been a real rush,
metaphorically and physically, but we have loved every
minute and we have you, our subscribers, to thank most of
all.  Thanks subscribers!  This summer has been an
especially favorable time for new subscribers with almost
2000 new readers (welcome . . . you know who you are.)

Portside (in nautical parlance, the left side of the ship
when you are facing forward) is part of the movement to
create an alternative information infrastructure committed
to exposing injustice, exploitation, and militarism; and
imagining and exploring an alternative more just social
order.
We intend Portside as a space that fosters such imagining
and exploration.  With the aid of readers and contributors,
we search the Internet every day for relevant, insightful,
critical, informative, perhaps funny, material and deliver
it to your digital doorstep.

We hope you find Labor Portside useful and enjoyable reading
and as part of our 10th anniversary celebration would be
willing to help us grow Portside.  If you are so inclined
here are three things you can do today to help:

1) This is our favorite.  Send us your suggestions for
posting or write an item you would like us to post.  We
can't use all of them, but we read them all and use many of
them.  You can send us an item by emailing

2) Forward posts from Portside to friends and co-workers and
encourage them to subscribe.  The instructions for
subscribing are at the bottom of every post,

3) Send us a contribution.  All the moderators at Portside
are volunteers, we have no paid staff, but we do have some
expenses associated with our ISP, our software and such.  To
make a contribution  go to the Portside Donate page -
https://portside.org/donate    or go to the Portside home
page http://www.portside.org/ and click on the top banner
item - Donate.

This will take you to our server - Authorize.Net. There you
will be able to make a contribution using your favorite
credit card - AMEX, Discover, MasterCard, Visa or the JBC.
This secure banking site will allow you to make a
contribution, or an on-going contribution to help sustain
Portside. Soon you will even be able to send an E-Check to
Portside from your bank account.

Soon we will be adding some new features including a
Facebook page.  We're looking for new friends and will be
posting some of our favorite items and soliciting comments
on the posts.
